Purpose

Project background/ summary: The red carpet has been rolled out and a little piece of Hollywood has finally returned to West WY along at the grand opening of the Tivoli Theatre cinema at the historic Masonic Hall. The dream to bring movie magic back to the West Wyalong community has been realised through $150,000 in funding from the Federal Government, $450,000 from the New South Wales Government, and $300,000 from Evolution Mining. It was a community-initiated project with many calling out for the much-wanted facility.

Impact/ outcomes: Bland Shire General Manager Ray Smith was proud of the community’s eagerness for the project and facility itself which will serve as a state-of-the-art 85-seat cinema and a multi-purpose venue for private functions, public meetings, art exhibitions, charity events, conferences, and drama productions. Evolution Cowal General Manager noted that the opening was an exciting milestone for West Wyalong, adding to the social life of the town. The theatre will carry on the rich history of its namesake and provide a lasting positive legacy for West Wyalong.
